Aico exhibits at PHEX for the first time

2nd April 2012

Aico Ltd. - a wholly owned subsidiary of Ei Electronics, manufacturer of the Ei Professional range of Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms will be exhibiting at PHEX for the very first time this year.

A market leader in the domestic fire alarm sector, Aico has been providing mains powered CO alarms for over eight years during which time they have been installed in thousands of social housing properties throughout the UK.  Most recently, the company has launched a new range of quality, cost-effective Lithium battery powered CO alarms with the professional plumbing and heating market in mind; these will be the focus of Aico’s stand at PHEX.

The new CO alarms have been specifically designed for installation by plumbers and heating engineers, focusing on quality, reliability and ease of installation.

They benefit from the proven CO sensor used across all Aico CO alarms, which is pre-calibrated and tested in CO gas to ensure accuracy, and many of the advanced features you would normally only find on the more expensive mains powered models; these include a pre alarm light for early warning of CO, a memory feature which enables the user to tell if CO has been detected during a period of absence and an end of life indicator.

Installation is very easy as the alarms feature a simple twist on mounting base which offers numerous fixing options for ceiling or wall mounting.

The alarms also use sealed in Lithium batteries, thus largely overcoming the problem of battery removal by the resident.  The battery unit is not only tamper proof, but being Lithium cannot be used to replace batteries in other household devices.

The new Aico CO alarms come in three versions: standard model, premium model with digital display and RadioLINK Professional model.

All models react to dangerous levels of CO by sounding the alarm and flashing the red alarm light at a rate relevant to the CO level detected.  With the digital display model, more detailed information and instruction messages are displayed, including CO level, status messages and icons.  Both standard and premium models have the facility to be upgraded at any time to incorporate Aico’s RadioLINK Professional wire-free alarm interconnection, through the simple addition of a RadioLINK plug-in module.  A further model complete with RadioLINK module is also available as part of the new range.

Using sophisticated RF technology, RadioLINK allows Aico CO alarms to easily be linked together to give improved audibility.  If there are multiple potential sources of CO in a property, more than one CO alarm should be fitted. But if one alarm sounds, will the occupants hear it throughout the property? RadioLINK solves this - when one alarm sounds it sends out a RadioLINK signal and all the alarms will sound, ensuring the alarm is heard wherever the occupant is in the property.  .

Kitemarked to BS EN 50291: 2010, the new Aico battery powered CO alarms on display at PHEX come complete with a five year guarantee.
