Cablofil wins fourth Llandough University Hospital job

7th January 2013

Cablofil has been specified for a fourth project at the Llandough Medical Centre complex in Penarth, South Wales, providing steel wire cable management for the new Stroke Unit extension.

More than 5km of Cablofil steel wire tray was used at the main University Hospital Llandough building to provide the cable management for all the patient entertainment systems, building management services, fire alarms, data, security systems and low voltage power. Installed in the ceiling void, each run of tray was split into two, with a divider to maximise capacity in the restricted ceiling void. Cablofil colour ID tags were used to identify the different types of cabling on each run of steel way tray.

Following the success of the installation in the main hospital building, the system has since also been specified for the site’s medical centre, the new Mental Health Outpatients’ Unit and the new build Stroke Unit.

Supplied by Cardiff distributor, The Electric Centre, 54mm deep EZ (electro-zinc plated) Cablofil steel wire tray is being used in various widths ranging from 50mm to 450mm at the Stroke Unit to accommodate both small power and data cabling throughout the specialist facility.

Comments Carl Brambani from Cablofil: “This is the fourth project for which we have supplied cable management at the Llandough University Hospital complex and the third consecutive year that installation teams have been working with our product on site. The durability of the product and its ease of use make it ideal for medical sector projects and our focus on service and excellent distribution network means that it can always be delivered to site quickly, avoiding any possibility of delays on a time critical project such as this.”
