Hager UK, the leading supplier of electrical services and solutions, is helping the nation’s electrical installers to fully understand recent updates to the wiring regulations, specifically Amendment 3, by providing a comprehensive training programme completely free of charge. The impartial, hour-long session puts the focus firmly on the new legislation and offers a wealth of useful, practically applicable information to ensure electrical contractors comply with the new legislation.
Already almost 3,000 delegates have attended more than 130 sessions across the country, with Hager UK technical experts travelling to installer hotspots to meet demand. Response to the training has been overwhelmingly positive, with delegates describing the process as “one of the best training sessions we have held for a long time” and “brilliant”.

A significant change in Amendment 3 requires the containment of domestic installations within non-combustible, regulation-compliant enclosures. The amendment has been made following investigations by the London Fire Brigade, which revealed that many fires arose from faulty electrical connections that overheated and then set light to their plastic enclosures. The aim of Amendment 3 is, therefore, to ensure that when such overheating occurs in domestic settings, the fire is contained as far as possible within the enclosure, and the risk of a house fire is dramatically reduced. Other elements of the new amendment refer to wiring systems in escape routes, and the use of circuit breakers as switching devices.
