New Xtend and Climb telescopic ladders incorporate aerospace technology

1st March 2013

Today TB Davies unveiled their latest telescopic ladder, fitted with unique patented, TrueTeleTech™ technology making it the only telescopic ladder in the world to extend and lock by the rung.

Xtend+Climb® is manufactured from extruded 6061 Aerospace Grade Aluminium, that is extremely robust with good corrosion resistance and high tensile strength typically used in heavy-duty structures including helicopter rotor skins, motor boats, military bridges, and rail coaches.

The redeveloped range will feature three models anticipated to launch in the UK in May and offered to consumers under the Xtend+Climb® Home, Trade and Pro labels.  Each model will have glass-reinforced couplings made from impact-modified nylon 66 composite.  This makes the coupling the strongest part of the ladder, designed to have brute strength, high impact resistance and a high chemical resistance.

Mitch Keifer, CEO at Core Distribution, designers of Xtend+Climb® said, ‘We have worked with TB Davies in the UK for many years now and are thrilled to be launching the third generation of our product here.  What we try and do with Xtend+Climb® is give customers a positive impact on their work by delivering a product built to last from top quality components that is easy to store, easy to transport and easy to use.’

Xtend+Climb® engineers based in the United States have designed the ladder to be both durable and to operate effortlessly, thanks to an invisible anodised armour, that provides a clean finish which improves lubrication and increases wear resistance.

‘With regular maintenance, the armour ensures Xtend+Climb® is the only telescopic ladders to come with extended warranties of up to five-years. Usability is key when we are designing product, a good example is the easy grip sides that remain at a constant temperature and have small touches such as angled thumb latches to ensure comfortable operation’ said Mitch.

First to launch will be the Home and Trade models, which will replace the current Trade Plus. Prices and store availability will be announced in the coming weeks. An all new super-duty series to take the range up to 4.5m is also planned for later this year.
