Lightify system from OSRAM gives consumers and professionals lighting control at their fingertips.
Homeowners now have the power and technology at their fingertips to create subtle lighting changes and effects in every room of their house, thanks to the Lightify system from OSRAM. Light bulbs and fittings within the range can be controlled through a smartphone app that allows the user to adjust the colours and intensity of lighting in individual rooms, and even combine multiple light sources.
Lightify allows users to explore both their creativity and practical needs. For example, lighting colours can be adjusted and timed in children’s rooms to help them wake up in the morning and calm them at night time. Living room lighting can be switched from daylight-simulated to relaxing evening light or even a home cinema atmosphere at the touch of a button. Lightify also remembers favourite light colours and settings.
There are many products available in two versions; offering up to 16 million different colour variations from the complete light spectrum ; and all colours between warm white and cool white from the second version.
These can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications:
"Lightify lets consumers exploit the wide-ranging possibilities of light, promoting feelings of safety and security, overall wellbeing, and of course the opportunity to have lots of fun,” stated Timon Rupp, responsible for Lightify products at Osram.
The gateway serves as the control unit for all connected Lightify devices, requiring a WLAN connection but no cabling to the internet. The smartphone app is downloadable for free from various app stores.
In addition to the Lightify version for private users, a Pro version is available for professionals, with the gateway enabling not only 50 but 100 light sources to be integrated into the system. A push-button coupler also allows light switches in the building to be used – simply remove the switch, install the push-button coupler and attach the switch again. An app is available for the installer and another for the end user, enabling DALI networks to be intuitively set up and operated.
Lightify is fully interoperable with products from other manufacturers, enabling connectivity and future proofing thanks to conformity to the ZigBee (www.zigbee.org ) lighting standard.
