Smart Home Intelligent networking for the home from OSRAM

From a single source: networked lighting solutions and the new generation of LED lamps by OSRAM

Intelligent control systems are today revolutionising domestic technology – they interconnect various areas such as heating, ventilation and lighting in a home or office and can be individually controlled via smartphone or tablet. Both end consumers and office and retail space planners are increasingly requesting such intelligent control systems, for example Lightify by OSRAM. Light colour and light temperature can be individually controlled, and the intelligent light management system can awaken users in the morning with a simulated sunrise or can dim the luminaires above the sofa in the evening.

A single standard for flexible solutions

Lightify can be easily integrated into an existing WLAN or ZigBee network. ZigBee is an industrial standard for wireless networks co-developed by over 300 companies, and this cross-manufacturer international standard enables a wide variety of devices to intercommunicate within a system. In the version for private users, Lightify is able to control up to 50 light points, and Lightify Pro can even control up to 100 light points or control units. In addition, the Pro variant can be linked up to brightness and motion sensors and it also features a DALI interface. Lightify therefore provides the options of a professional light management system for controlling lighting scenes in office or commercial buildings without the need for complex cabling.

Intelligent, networked light

Lightify not only enables LED lamps to be switched on and off, but the colour temperature and brightness can also be regulated. Irrespective of its specific location, the complete Lightify range of LED lamps and luminaires can be controlled via an App on a smartphone or tablet to bathe living rooms, studies, balconies, terraces and gardens in a wide variety of light atmospheres. These scenes can be randomly configured and also controlled while away from home. In the future the App will also provide pre-programmed light scenes that simulate the light conditions of a sunrise or sunset. Lightify is also able to read the light atmosphere from photos and adapt the room lighting accordingly, enabling users to redesign their rooms with light each day according to moods and desires. When on holiday, dynamic light profiles can be flexibly set using the absence mode, either before or during the period away from home – compared to standard time clocks this can provide improved burglary protection.

With Lightify, OSRAM takes an integrated approach and offers associated products from a single source. However, installed light systems and products from other manufacturers that support common standards, such as the ZigBee Light Link, can be integrated simply into the system.
