Aico launches Application Expert for contractors

20th January 2012

Aico, the UK’s leading supplier of domestic mains powered Fire and Carbon Monoxide alarms, has recently released ‘Application Expert’ - a support document designed to provide tried and tested solutions to difficult fire alarm applications.

Aico recognises that not all alarm installations are straightforward, especially when dealing with older or sub divided properties.  Over the years Aico has been applying its expertise to solving hundreds of tricky installation dilemmas and here, in Application Expert, it brings together the solutions.  These include triggering a smoke / heat alarm from an external device (such as a sprinkler system) and vice versa (e.g. a Warden call System); alarm systems for the hearing impaired; adding alarms to an existing system; alarm systems for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) and flats; and adding control switches and call points.

Carbon Monoxide alarms are also addressed in Application Expert, along with a hassle free means of upgrading Aico alarms and how to fit temporary alarm systems (e.g. in timber frame buildings under construction).

Each proposed solution provides you with all the information you need to complete that installation, including part numbers for the Aico product, siting requirements, clear wiring diagrams, details of the House-Coding (set-up) process and testing and commissioning.  Both RadioLINK (wireless interconnection) and hard-wired options are covered.

Application Expert has been designed to be simple to use, with colour coded sections for easy reference.

Copies of Application Expert are available from the Aico website – www.aico.co.uk.  Aico’s highly popular Electrical Contractors Handybook is also available, which tells you all you need to know about choosing, installing, testing and maintaining Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Ei Electronics, Aico is the first name in residential fire protection in the UK.  All alarms are designed and built in Europe specifically to meet the UK standards and regulations.  For more information, please go to www.aico.co.uk.
