Hager Awarded OHSAS 18001

14th February 2012

Hager has been awarded OHSAS 18001 certification, an occupational Health and Safety Management system.

The OHSAS certification provides Hager with a framework to identify and control its health and safety risks, reduce the potential risk for accidents, comply with legislation and improve operational performance.

Says Paul Rooney, Technical Manager at Hager, “Hager has an on-going commitment to maintaining a safe and responsible working environment.  Achieving OHSAS 18001 means that Hager’s operations have a strong credibility having being scrutinised by external auditors.  As a result, all parties connected to Hager can have the reassurance that its guideline practices are to a recognised industry standard.

“A large part of health and safety is about training our employees to ensure that there is competency in procedure and legal compliance, that they are up to date with changing legislation and to anticipate changes and adjust in accordance.  Hager has invested 142 training hours to the implementation of OHSAS 18001.”

Hager currently also holds ISO 9001 (for quality) and ISO 17025 (the external accreditation for its test laboratory).  Hager is now working towards achieving 14001 and aims to have this in place by the end of 2012.
