LIA in new decorative Light Show partnership with Autumn Fair International

5th December 2014

The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) is to partner with i2i Events Group’s Autumn Fair International 2015, which is claimed to be the UK's biggest and best gift and home trade fair of the season. This new agreement will see a new and dedicated lighting event called the ‘The Light Show’ at the Autumn Fair.

The Light Show – as a part of Autumn Fair International 2015 - will take place from September 6th to 9th in Hall 2 of the NEC, Birmingham. There, tens of thousands of retailers from right around the UK and wider world will complete their buying for 2015.

This year, buyers included the likes of John Lewis, Selfridges, Harrods, Laura Ashley, Homebase, Heal’s, Haskins, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Fenwick.

The importance of Autumn Fair International – and other i2i Events Group exhibitions - to the wider retail industry and UK economy has been emphasised by several new collaborations. These include Government agencies and trade associations, such as UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Brands of China, but one of these is The Light Show for 2015 by the LIA, which is a Voltimum UK partner organisation.

The Light Show, which is effectively replacing the old and now withdrawn ‘Interiors Show’, will have a synergy with the Home Interiors and Furniture sector at Autumn Fair. These sectors have seen one of the exhibition’s strongest growth areas in recent years.

A suitable replacement

Commenting on the new partnership agreement, LIA Chief Operating Officer Peter Hunt said: “After consultation with its members and detailed consideration of a number of options, the LIA has reached agreement to hold a new dedicated lighting show for the decorative sector at Autumn Fair International in September 2015.

“It has been a challenge to find a suitable replacement for the Lighting at Interiors show in January after the organisers withdrew the Interiors Show at the NEC earlier this year. The LIA is convinced that the package provided by the organisers of the Autumn Fair, i2i Events Group is both competitive and offers new benefits, which will drive business in the sector.

Peter Hunt concluded: “The Autumn Fair is closely linked with new exporting activities by UKTI which brings another dimension to a UK show. LIA members will enjoy significant benefits and we look forward to the return of a strong and vibrant show delivering key buyers at a key time of year for the lighting industry.”

Said the Portfolio Director for Autumn Fair, Nick Davison: “I’m delighted to announce that the LIA has chosen to partner with the Autumn Fair and launch the inaugural The Light Show, which will debut at our 2015 event.

“Autumn Fair takes place at the ideal time of year for buyers in this sector and the central location of the NEC makes it the perfect venue for this new show within a show. We have already seen a major upswing in our Home Interiors and Furniture and Lighting sectors at the 2014 exhibition and this major development will ensure Autumn Fair is an even more essential fixture for the market.

“The Light Show exhibitors and visiting retailers will also benefit from our existing partnership with UKTI, which does great work promoting the export of British products and services to overseas markets.”

Thousands of exhibitors and visitors alike

Autumn Fair will bring together under one roof some 1,400 exhibitors from 13 different market sectors.

In 2014, Autumn Fair attracted more than 29,000 visitors (pending audit), with retailers from 84 countries turning out to see 60,000 new product launches from 1400 suppliers – including 400 newcomers – across 12 market sectors. I2i Events Group has reported a higher footfall than last year’s event, with more visitors opting to attend for more than one day.
