The MIDA Buying Group and many of its associates celebrated in great style over the weekend of 21st-23rd September 2013 in the beautiful and picture postcard town of Cascias, Portugal.
The event, which is the pinnacle of all group affairs, is carefully organised and showcased once every two years. It is without doubt a very special occasion where key suppliers and members come together to acknowledge and celebrate the much valued business and friendship that exists within the organisation – amazing partnerships that have been nurtured over many years.
Whilst the economic climate has been somewhat supressed for some time, this event pays tribute to those businesses that take shelter under the group umbrella and who despite the uncompromising challenges faced in business, continue in their loyalty and unequivocal support to champion the brand and business that is MIDA. Today the group retains its position in the industry as one of the leading consortiums of its type and in Cascais, a new, stronger precedent was set, and a strong benchmark for how its business will continue to develop over the coming years.
During the weekend and on the evening of the main group gala, MIDA gave out greater acknowledgements to the selected few businesses that had each for different reasons, shone a little brighter than others and in turn were the lucky recipients of three particular accolades.
There were the traditional awards for Member and Supplier of the Year - one voted for by the group’s main head office team and the other by all of the membership. The winners of these two prestigious awards were as follows;
Powerlec Distributors for Best Member of the Year 2012. Considered by MIDA as their best ambassador of the group. The award was received by principles Dave Downes and Steve Wilcox-Tobin.
Ansell Lighting for Best Supplier of the Year 2012. The award was received by Greg Buck.
In addition to the known awards traditionally given by the group, this year launched the beginning of a new acknowledgement and one as introduced by Steve Newburn, MD for MIDA, as potentially the ever popular players player type award. It is to be another member tribute but this time one that is seen through the eyes of the supplier partnerships – The Suppliers Member of the Year Award.
The lucky winner in its inaugural year was Wharfside Electrical Wholesalers. The award was received by principles Nick King and Lloyd Clarke.
2012 has been a tremendous year for MIDA and the event held in Cascais was the culmination of a huge amount of work. Its success has been documented and although these occasions come and go, it is the many personalities that collaborate to make MIDA the business that it is today. MIDA wishes to thank all associates, whether members or suppliers, for the support, trust and confidence that is given at all times.
