Strain relief with new Flexible Conduit fittings featuring an integral Cable Gland

13th July 2012

Flexicon has launched a new range of flexible conduit fittings that feature an integrated cable gland thus providing cable strain relief and an enhanced IP rating for the cable within metallic flexible conduits.

The new fittings combine the properties of a conduit fitting and cable gland to provide an additional IP rating for the cable of up to IP68 (10 bar), or IP69K depending on the cable used to achieve safe and secure protection.

The fittings can also withstand a wide temperature range of between -40oC to 100oC for static applications and -20oC to 100oC for dynamic applications.  An EMC cable gland version is also available on request, for use with Flexicon’s over braided range of flexible conduits.

The new range can be used on metallic flexible conduits for 20mm, 25mm and 32mm, with cable clamping ranges of 7-13mm, 9-17mm and 11-21mm.

Typical applications for the cable gland fittings are in the rail industry or the heavy machinery construction sector. Ideal for applications subjected to vibration or extreme movement, this product combines the mechanical protection benefit of using flexible conduit as well as offering cable strain relief through the fitting.

Flexicon has also developed a range of flexible conduit fittings, with integrated cable glands, for use with non-metallic conduits.
