We store this information on our secure company server and hold it for the duration of your membership and until your final rebate payment is processed under the terms of our agreement. After this time, we safely destroy your details.
As Data Controller we also take all possible steps to ensure that your data is processed honestly and lawfully by our suppliers. We issue a 'Data Processing Agreement' to all of our suppliers which tells them how they should be using your data and their responsibility to you as a data subject. While we make every effort to ensure that our suppliers are GDPR compliant we cannot take full responsibility for each one.

When you become an affiliated preferred supplier for MIDA you will receive our 'Data Processing Agreement' which you must follow and adhere to. In serious instances, failure to do so may result in us not being able to promote you as a MIDA supplier and/or sanctions from the ICO.
For general office related suppliers whom we use, who fall outside of the scope of our core electrical distribution suppliers, but who we need to work with to enable the running of our company, such as; accountants, legal, IT support, maintenance services, utilities & telecoms, corporate hospitality services, etc, we only hold and store business address and contact details, including invoices and bank details, for communication and accounting purposes.

If you contact us via the website enquiry form, by telephone or in person, we will ask for your name, company name, telephone numbers, email and if you were interested in becoming a member or a supplier. As a potential member, we will also require other financial information to ascertain credit worthiness and company stability.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry only. You will not be added to our database unless you join as a member or become an affiliated preferred supplier.
The information is stored in our email system or our notebooks and is given to us with your consent. If you enquired by email, your information will remain on our system but will not be processed. If you enquired by telephone or in person, we would destroy your data once it is no longer needed.
As a MIDA member, we organise a variety of networking events to encourage member and supplier connection, develop business relations, and nurture desirable deals for our members.
Some of these events take place overseas. MIDA takes care of all of these arrangements and as such may ask for your passport details so that we can organise flights and manage other various requirements. It is in our legitimate interest that we hold those details so that we can organise and facilitate positive trade agreements for you.
We will need to share these details with any travel agencies and organisers who we partner to manage such events. However, we always password protect these files and delete them once the event is completed.
Your data will be stored on our secure company server while we need it and we will make every effort to ensure that the travel organisers we share your data with, handle it with respect and follow the guidance we offer, and delete it once we are all back home.
MIDA is a family business, and we pride ourselves on our personal service and relationship with both our members and suppliers.
There may be times that you give us your home address as it is considered more convenient for you.
At other times we may have asked a colleague for your date of birth as we like to recognise our suppliers and members for these special occasions, and from time to time, provide gifts.
If we are aware of other significant life events, like anniversaries, children's birthdays or hospital appointments we may make notes on our calendar to remind us to keep in touch.
If we hold this type of data, we do so under legitimate interest, so that we are able to offer you a more bespoke, personable service with that little extra touch; so that you don't just feel like a 'number'.

MIDA collects bank details from our members and suppliers to process membership fees and discounts/rebates, as well as other sponsorships and specific marketing projects required to better promote our business together.

We keep your bank details until the final rebate payment has been processed. We hold them with your consent and to fulfil our contractual obligation to you.

If you did want to stop receiving marketing emails from MIDA, we could do this for you, but we do need to tell that you would miss out on the benefits of your membership with us, as this is our primary form of communication. If you wish to stop receiving marketing information from a MIDA approved supplier, you will be able to so in just the same way. MIDA approved suppliers will always include a simple opt-out method on all of their communication with you (digital and print). Please note that if you decide to opt out from a MIDA or supplier database, it may take a few days to process your opt-out request and that you may continue to receive promotional or marketing materials during this time.
