AICO expands Radiolink Range with battery powered carbon monoxide alarm

1st November 2011

Following the success of Aico's ground breaking RadioLINK Professional wire-free Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm interconnection system, the company has added a new Lithium battery CO alarm to the range.

The Ei208WRF comes with RadioLINK technology built into the alarm, allowing it to be effortlessly interconnected to an existing or new RadioLINK system featuring Aico Fire and / or CO alarms.  When one unit goes into alarm, all the alarms interconnected on the system will sound, ensuring the alarm is heard wherever the occupant is in the property.  When interlinking CO and Fire alarms on the same system, an Aico Alarm Control Switch should be used to identify the source of the alarm - Smoke or CO.

Designed and built with the same proven CO sensor used in all Aico CO alarms, the new alarm is exceptionally reliable, yet being battery operated it represents cost-effective protection.  Aico believes this will enable such life saving devices to be used more widely as not only are they inexpensive, but they can also be fitted by heating and ventilation installers, plumbers, builders etc., as well as electricians.  During boiler servicing, for example, nothing could be simpler than installing the new CO alarm to the ceiling or wall using the simple twist on mounting base - no wiring required!

In addition to its ability to be easily interconnected to other Aico alarms, the new CO alarm offers a number of benefits that are noteworthy including the use of a tamper proof Lithium battery (rather than standard AA batteries) which cannot be used to replace batteries in other household devices.  Other features include a pre-alarm light for early warning of CO, a memory feature which enables the user to tell if CO has been detected during a period of absence and an end of life indicator.

The alarm itself comes in a sleek, compact casing with a large Test button at its centre, designed to encourage residents to regularly test the alarm.

For installers who do not require RadioLINK interconnection, two other models are available in the new Lithium battery powered range: a standard model and a premium model with digital display.  All are Kitemarked to BS EN 50291 and come with a five year guarantee.

Aico is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ei Electronics.  All Aico alarms are designed and built in Europe specifically to meet UK standards and regulations.
